Sean Gibbons
Physiotherapist, research director and lecturer at SMARTERehab, internationally recognized for turning complex musculoskeletal pain into bite-size, evidence-based interventions.

Sean Gibbons earned his BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy and MSc in Ergonomics from Manchester University, graduating in 1995, and is currently completing a PhD. He practises at Stability Physiotherapy and is research director and lecturer at SMARTERehab, as well as an Assistant Clinical Professor (Adjunct) in McMaster University’s Advanced Orthopaedic Musculoskeletal / Manipulative Physiotherapy Specialization. He is known internationally for making the complexity of musculoskeletal pain easier by putting it into bite-size, actionable interventions with usable clinical reasoning strategies. He developed assessment tools including the Motor Control Abilities Questionnaire and the NICE-Q, and his research spans motor skill learning in low back pain, resistance training for chronic pain, and cranial nerve involvement in whiplash-associated disorder and concussion.
